Sababu Safaris joins the Transformational Travel Council
Needless to say the global travel industry is shaken by the current events surrounding COVID-19. More than ever Sababu Safaris believes in the power of travel and the good it brings into this unpredictable world. Once the crisis passes, a new kind of traveler will emerge. Post Covid-19 travelers will be craving meaningful human connections and invest more time and energy in purposeful activities wherever they go. Sababu Safaris has always believed that travel can be the catalyst to inspire, touch souls and make us feel truly connected and alive. We’ve experienced firsthand the transformative power of travel and its ability to create lasting change in the world, especially when done in a more intentional and more meaningful way. We believe that at its core, travel is an investment in new experiences, meaningful memories, shared connections and personal growth as we meet new people, explore parts unknown, and gain a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity. Travel is all about learning and growing into our own unique way of engaging with the world, being awed by its natural beauty and reveling in that bond across physical borders. In the end, traveling lets humans live with more meaning and purpose so that we can make a lasting impact in the world - one trip at a time.
When I was approached by Jake Haupert, co-founder of the Transformational Travel Council, in December 2019 I had already heard of the TTC. Jake had seen an article about our efforts to distribute solar lights to local communities together with our guests and invited us to become an ally of the TTC community.
Since the Transformational Travel Council is a collective of businesses and organizations who understand the powerful and delicate environmental, cultural, social, and emotional impact tourism has on the individual traveler as well as the destination, Sababu Safaris did not hesitate to join and we are now proud to be an active member of the TTC community.
To Sababu Safaris, the transformational aspect is not just about how we, as the traveler, can go through a transformation. It is about the positive impact you can have on the communities you visit. When done right, travel can be a force of good and create a win-win situation for all parties involved. As mentioned in last year’s interview with BBC, Sababu Safaris encourages a shift of mindset from “Me” to “We”, to acknowledge the fact that we can only be truly well if the local communities and the places we visit are also well.
We are honored to share the same mission and values as the TTC: we believe that "when travel is simply acted upon with intention, it positively impacts not only the traveler but the communities, cultures, and environments that they interact with...and by doing so makes the world a better place". We want to maximize the power of travel to positively transform how we live our lives, how we live with and treat others, and how we live on our planet.
Sababu Safaris is proud to be part of this group of thought-leaders and drivers in the movement and we look forward to working together to give more travelers the opportunity to TRAVEL WITH PURPOSE.
